43 year old guy has a dream

http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/muc/2683916117.html

This guy wants to sing with a big band, it’s always been his dream. “try me out” he says, “nothing to lose”.

That might be true for you, but do you know what goes into running a big band? We’re talking about 17 professional horn players who are most likely getting paid to rehearse. There is never enough time to get the arrangements perfectly tight because there are so many people and the material is complex. What’s the harm in getting these 17 people to get together, learn a new song, and let this guy who has certainly never sung in front of people before to give it a whirl? It would cost a few hundred bucks and waste a lot of people’s time, but it’s a DREAM!

(again, craigslist is treated as a wish machine…)

Pop Montreal listening session pick O’ the week
I’m going to be involved in a sweet remix project soon

Remaking a Colin Stetson (aka my favorite musician in the world right now, no joke) track with a couple of super heavyweights from MTL. Watch out world!

I have two other more interesting tumblrs, didja know that?

http://commentsonmtlcraigslist.tumblr.com/ is where I make short comments about things I read on Montreal craigslist. no biggie.

and

http://svengully.tumblr.com/ is where I post up dance music related stuff

I like this whole tumblr thing. It feels so “no biggie*” which is my whole thing these days. Which is not to say I don’t like “biggie*” too because I do, but all “biggie*” all the time is way too much “biggie*” for one guy to deal with. Especially a guy who’s mostly only pretended to be into “biggie*” because he understands that while all real happiness comes from within, we need the fake competitiveness and fame games to keep the economy going so that poor people can have slightly cheaper food. Who I am I to get all “over it” and make poor people’s food more expensive? That being said I’m one of the poorest people I know, and my life is really easy and great so maybe I can forget “biggie*” entirely and just be happy.
